We have cleared a lot of our block of undergrowth, there's almost nothing to burn at that level but we do have large trees right up to the house. That may bite us in the arse one day but according to the locals we never get canopy fires up here and the firies love what we've done so I'm fairly happy.

Ive got plenty of work to do yet still and have started a bit dropping trees around the home and clearing up into piles ready for burning off in the colder season. Canopy fires could still be an issue and ive been asked to consider signing up to volunteer cfa for our community, have to see how i go but i will definitely be seeking to learn the basic ropes in case i need to help out.

We cleared an area of about 30 meters around the Shome (Shed Home) and W/shop of all tree's. The reason we did this was in part for fires as well as Satellite connection and Solar array installation. We didn't want shading or signal loss due to tree's. This also helps with leaf build up in gutters. Out past that has been whats called "Park" cleared. Big trees in place and all under growth cleared.
We mow around any structures and fence boundaries as a fire management plan. We currently have 45k of water on hand and two fire fighting pumps. A diesel pump for the immediate area around the Shome and W/shop and a petrol pump mounted on a trailer with a 1k pod on it.
Our stock will also manage the paddocks where needed as well.
I am also 2nd officer in the local Rural Fire Brigade. So help is always on hand.
