Radio chat today has been about every home having an Emergency Kit for more possible blackouts.

On the topic if SA and blackouts, I just found this: indaily.com.au/opinion/2017/01/25/richardson-blaming-the-government-sas-favourite-pastime/It's a discussion of Gary Burns' report into the response to the statewide blackout. "... I suspect the indignation flowed from the fact that many were expecting the report to be a roll-call of ways the government let us collectively down. And instead, Burns tells us we should have been fending for ourselves instead of waiting for someone else to fix everything." Also i don't think I've ever seen "htfu" in a news editorial before...

Hi I'm in Victoria not far from Hazelwood Power Station which is the one planned to shut down at the end of March. When Hazelwood shuts it will remove 1600 Megawatts from the Eastern Seaboard power grid. I expect states without enough power generation will be first on the list to see blackouts when power shortages occur, since the States are responsible for electrical supplies, they will not cut themselves off first.
If you do not already own a generator now might be a good time to think about one, since most refrigerators need power at least every four hours to preserve their frozen contents.
