I really like this reply to the article! They make sense in that we are so culturally different to other Asian nations and we share more in common with the UK and the USA.

Do Australians really care what "Dr Patience" thinks? Have many even heard of him before? The answer would be a 90%+ and loud NO. Pull out of the ANZUS treaty just because globalism isn't working out for you elites? You can kick your own bucket whenever you want but don't try and kick this country's anymore than the politicians and corporations, overseas interests already have. Places that pretend to be our friend or don't even hide their contempt - look what we have above us - 255 million people living in a people majority Muslim country (also the highest population of Muslims in world and a country we've had military interchanges with already), Philippines - not that Islam (yet) but led by a man who might as well be (Majority Catholic country but it's leader public spits on Catholicism) - Duterte who has the country's death toll by assassination over 7000. Mostly buried in mass graves, no right to legal counsel, no trial - a lot of these people were probably not even guilty. We will never know. He already threatened some political enemies with the same end. Over 100 million people living in different parts of that area. China is less than 9,000km away with 1.3 billion people, worlds largest army, but they don't even need to scramble a single jet to deliver physical destruction to us. Not only over the years have they stolen weapons designs from major western manufacturers they have their own, including energy weapons more advanced than western ones, and this is the country which is STILL mostly communist, who killed more of their own people than any other country ever - communist or not. (I don't want to hear 'b-b-but they have free trade now' so what. If you can get hauled off to jail or just disappear for seemingly minor infractions of the law, without as much as a court date ever what good is the ability to buy a few toys anyway?). Weapons designs aren't the only stolen western assets/ideas. Jet technology from domestic to military, nuclear, and big data - that major hack last year on the OPM - Office of Personnel Management - which holds some of the most sensitive data including fingerprints of mid and high level government employees both present and past.. at least ~22 million people.. we know that was China. It's been compiled into a friendly GUI-driven database that ironically resembles Facebook apparently (along with other hacked data for Chinese government to peruse). Don't forget these are the people that fire on peacefully protesting, unarmed Buddhists, (and their own students) banned ALL religion and have an education system that seems very effective at brainwashing their citizens into believing everything in China is #1. The air in major cities is unbreathable, a majority of people do not even have running hot water, and are practically slave labour for pointless trinkets and crap we don't need and will break quickly anyway.
I would like Australia to be less American too but without only ANZUS treaty but also NATO member state as well as the recent US-Australian treaty (Which encompasses trade, military and taxation deals). No matter how much the media cries about the TPP and TPIP being (heroically) scuttled, it would have screwed the average Australian, given them even less consumer rights than they do now and send costs into even more unaffordable territories.
Let's focus on the issues Australians want now, rather than fingers-in-the-pie, compromised politicians' self interests. Just like America recently had. Are Australians asleep, over-distracted and uninterested in political issues? Globalists assumed Americans were. I hope we can show them the same next Fed election.
