Yes, although I note he has only ordered the troops to permanently stay on islands they already patrol, rather than those the Chinese have been illegally occupying. I hear from an acquaintance who was on vacation in the Philippines last week that the daily newspapers were full of criticism of Duterte for not standing up to the Chinese, so it looks like all his voters have finally seen through his use of populist issues (ie. killing drug users) and are now wanting him to do his actual job.

Thats really interesting Fei, I am finding it rather confusing! Especially this statement
“It looks like everybody is making a grab for the islands there, so we better live on those that are still vacant,” he told reporters during a televised visit to a military camp on the western island of Palawan, near the disputed Spratly group, on Thursday.
Is Duterte mad enough to start anything though?

I reckon Duterte is mad enough remmy, i think his age might have him a little round the bend and loose on things tbh. Wars and rumours of wars is possibly all that might come of this. 2017 has heated up a fair bit so far.
