Juat wondering if anyone has personally had any experience with a decent set of budget binos. Talking like under 300bucks. I know the old get what you pay for applies especially to glass, but I can't afford European. Any ideas would be great. Thinking 8 or 10x25. Personal experience preferred.

Vortex.
Best bang for your buck.
You should easily get a decent pair of 8x25 for under $300

Thanks guys. Have actually been looking at a set of cheap bushnells. Could grab a couple of pairs for bugger all. I got my Bushnells from my preferred gun shop about the same time I bought my rifle & shotty (I'm guessing that's about 2 years ago now). They're in my GHB/BOB in case I'd like to scan an area through which I'm about to pass. They're not the greatest - my default comparison is with a set of Swarovski binos I once used (which IIRC were around the $3k mark which puts them in a completely different league) - but for the money they're fine. I use them sometimes for watching birds on the river near my home, and they do provide decent magnification and a fairly clear image. The other comparison I make is with the pair my grandfather left for me when he passed away; they were used in Dad's Army in the UK during WWII and provide the foggiest image I've ever seen. I'd never like to depend upon these, but the family history makes them special. Never forget your past, folks. Its meaning can be profound.

The birds on the river are typically winged. Or on the odd occasion they're standing upon one of those new-fangled paddleboards.
The birds beside the river typically have no wings at all. Although occasionally they could be mistaken for angels...
