I almost never get excited at the prospect of a new movie release. But...
One of my favourite novel series ever - The Dark Tower by Stephen King - has apparently now been adapted as a movie. Quite liberally, it would seem. But if you'd like to see a kick-ass trailer, watch this. And I'd pay good money to see anyone reload their revolver the way the Gunslinger does...

I have been fangirling about this for a while now.
Just as a pedantic little aside, it isnt technically an adaptation, if you have read the series and remember how it ends, you will see this is a sequel to the original series. This explains (canonically) all the various changes including why Eddie and Susan arent in it, why Roland is black (However who could complain about Idris Elba playing a cowboy), and most importantly why he has the Horn of Eld
Happy to discuss more with anyone as I havent had a good chat about a fictional universe for a loooong time

Just to clarify the above post for those who haven't read the books, it's mighty hard to be ambidextrous when a giant friggin' lobster takes your fingers off with its claws...

It is because he yet another incarnation of Roland in the multiverse. In the last book, the Roland is back to the where the first book was in the alternative timeline "when the man in black fled acroxx the desert, the gun slinger followed"
Jake has died like 3 times already by the way.
I am actually excited, always hoped to see another book to free Roland from the endless cycles of torment.

He gotta, he was sent back to the time right at the first book, he would only have his fingers chopped off in the second book, if he carries his wounds and problems every time he "reboots" he would simple die from old age.....

Also Roland does not remember the previous incarnations so I imagine he would be confused that he seems to be missing limbs and doesnt remember losing them.....

IF I remember correctly, Roland's good hand was also buggered from pulling the rose at the end of the last book. So never mind any theory, it is just not possible to write another story of him being a gunslinger if he doesn't heal.
By the way, I wonder what kind of prepper will Roland be.... so in Drawing of the Three, he got into the city (our timeline) and he forcefully took three things him: Guns, Antibiotics and people (only Jake was willing). I would avoid when SHTF
