My wife and i have purchased a lot off Gumtree over the years, and many of those, especially from Gumtree have been about going to the house or place to inspect and pick up the item. I have always been wary of the pick up place, and if my wife ever went alone, i always had the address and details of the place, but after reading this, she wont be going without me ever again.

I have used gumtree many times and never had a problem this is of little concern to me as I have already done the most dangerous thing I will do for the day drove to and from work in fact just the act of driving to some location to pick up an item is more dangerous then the actual meeting a stranger to pick up an item

The only real problem I have ever had was a very attractive young lady invited me in for a couple of "smokes" and a bit of fun and well being a married man I had to politely decline plus the hard ridden black Harley in the workshop and the sergeant at arms colours on the clothes line kind of was a very good indication to not make life choices you will soon regret
point here was situational awareness look for all the signs of potential threats and trouble before you pull up always do a drive by and stop down the road a bit
