Bananas are a colorful, well-loved, widely enjoyed snack. They also are known for being a tropical food. If you’ve ever wished that you could grow your own bananas but are concerned that the climate where you live is just a bit too cold, then you’ll be happy to know that it is possible to grow this delicious treat even in areas where the weather is a bit cooler than you might consider ideal................. www.offthegridnews.com/survival-gardening-2/how-to-grow-bananas-no-matter-where-your-live/There are a lot on banana trees around where I live on the bottom end of the Eyre Peninsular - they are doing ok by the looks of it. Even our Bunnings is selling them now - might have to plant some.

I've seen bananas fruiting as far south as Bunbury (that's a couple hours south of Perth). I was surprised, but the owner of the trees said they flourished.

There are apparently a few gardeners growing them in Melbourne, so they must be able to grow anywhere!

Have them up against a heat store (west wall), protect from wind and feed them like buggery.
