Well, as some of you know, im on the last few weeks of my current employment Given that i have a company vehicle that will soon be no longer, i had to make plans to avoid having one car should i not find work in the next few weeks. Back in 2003, the Mrs and i bought our first car together. It was a 1998 Holden Jackaroo. At the time, only around 5 years old. Fast forward to around 2010ish, the Jackaroo was parked up (due to the low resale value) not to be re-rego'd again.. A few weeks ago, i dragged the big girl out of hibernation for a resurrection.. The car itself is neat. Paint is good, interior is excellent and mechanically is spot on. First thing on the cards was a general service. Drained the fuel tank (new filter) and filled with new fuel. New plugs. Started first kick. Since then, ive pretty much raped my poor Hilux for all its electronic goodness. Ive taken: UHF radio 27MGHZ radio UHF Handheld VMS UHF and AM antennas LED light bar Ive added from my shed preps: Electric brakes 12Pin trailer plug 40A Anderson plug 12V rear outlets Fire ext Solar wiring (8BNS) 30A Solar reg Rear LED flood lamp (not in pics) Plans are to: Add roof racks and install 110W solar panel to racks 120A/H Gel battery in rear Inverter, 2000W minimum Rear drawer system 2" lift including Torsion bars Wider tyres. (current tyres about 80% tread) This is going to be my main project for 2014. Money will determine how quick its done

Nice mate- id advise a couple things im sure your aware of, but just to help others as well. I did ALOT of remote bush work in W.A over the past 7 years (and have been a 'bushie' all my life)..so know a little about this topic...(feel free to disagree, but these items work for me) 1- a REAL bull-bar- Nudge bars aint going to do squat, and if TSHTF- you may need it to move other vehicles aside... 2- under the bonnet compressor 3- flexi-tank water bags (I think that's what they are called) fillable long range water bags for inside the vehicle (place them on floor etc) 4- rear mounted spotty, a snorkel (not necessarily for deep water, but to get cleaner/cooler air into the rigs engine-less dust etc) 5- personally, I cant stress the awesomeness of an ARB fridge- had mine 6 years, in all sorts of temps, its taken some big knocks, but keeps on firing.....other great thing is that I have 2 old 42w solar panels, that I use to charge 2 deep cycle batteries...the fridge can run of a single battery 3 days no problem (no extra charging)...great for camping/TSHTF...
awesome ideas there Wayne-go Holden
