Following on from the thread how to fortify your on homestead fortification. I just watched this YouTube vid on South African prepper group called Suidlanders (Southlanders, Southerners).
They claim to have one of the worlds largest prepper groups. Have 6,000 active member and 12,000 supporting members with their families up to 70,000 people. yeah South Africa is very divided on racial and economic bases. These guys are basically perpping for a bugout to a large farm in massive groups and also preparing to receive refugees. It is also amazing how the Discovery show Doomday Preppers has had such a big influence on many people across the world.

SA preppers are a different breed. To start with most of them don't even consider themsleves preppers.
Many common SA peopple will have a combination of below.
-own and carry firearms
-large stock pile of canned food and stuff
-have borehole water even when living in the city
-have dicussed going to Oom's farm when shtf
-generators at home
-barred windows, heavy door, dogs, electric fencing, remote gates (no getting off the car),
-gated streets
-have a potjie
-know how to make biltong
-know how to fish and hunt
-have an old yet functional emp safe beach buggy
Pretty normal hey

Its interesting how the reporter asks 'isn this just racism?' in accusing the Suidlanders, oh yes, it is racism indeed, but against white people.
For goodness sake, get educated on what is happening and then give some consideration to why white folk might be banding together to run away to a specific place to try and stay alive if such an event were to occur!

Australia in the future, or Melbourne now. Wouldn't be surprised. I have lived in another country where i was distinguishable to locals, and you have to be cautious. Got robbed twice, feared for the kids being abducted under ransom also, been lied to, deceived, ripped off numerous times. Id be a part of this group of preppers in an instant if i lived there, for the purposes of self preservation, who wouldn't be? Imagine if this happened here in Australia, it could if they had the numbers. |

It actually more complex then many would realise.
In America we think of black vs white. In South Africa it is like English vs Afrikaans vs zulu vs Zhosa vs sotho vs people from surrounding countries. Native population far out weights the europens. Even Coloured (legal term for people people of mixed heritage, most american black would have been classified as colored) out numbers the white and sort of stuck. Military is pretty advanced for a developing country but has little thread from surrounding countries.
Religion does not form part of major concerns, police brutality can be black on black, one party has majority support. It is a unique mess not seen in the rest of the world. Most people would have done some preps. Many just adapted as time goes by (or move to perth/nz). What we can learn is many south africans are well prepped but not particularly fearful, ubtil shtf, life goes on as normal

This was an interesting watch in light of these folk and the situation. Im going to look into how i might be able to assist them, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

It actually more complex then many would realise. In America we think of black vs white. In South Africa it is like English vs Afrikaans vs zulu vs Zhosa vs sotho vs people from surrounding countries. Native population far out weights the europens. Even Coloured (legal term for people people of mixed heritage, most american black would have been classified as colored) out numbers the white and sort of stuck. Military is pretty advanced for a developing country but has little thread from surrounding countries. Religion does not form part of major concerns, police brutality can be black on black, one party has majority support. It is a unique mess not seen in the rest of the world. Most people would have done some preps. Many just adapted as time goes by (or move to perth/nz). What we can learn is many south africans are well prepped but not particularly fearful, ubtil shtf, life goes on as normal Normal is very relative. When living in South Africa and staying in a remote private mining village, my bother came to visit and could not sleep as there were no bars on the windows or fenced wall around the house.
If they come to Australia they are constantly locking everything looking over their shoulder, driving with doors locked. Cant park here too dangerous no security or cameras.
They actually have a very high level of stress – that is their normal. After a few months is Aus they start to relax a bit but then go back to the insanity.
Yes South Africans are prepared with wood BBQ, generators, carrying guns and knives is legal, some food storage, house are well barricaded. Reports from Venezuela also say the average house is well barricaded with steel doors etc.. The threat there are much higher – very high unemployment – racial tension, poverty and low standard of education and little to no welfare.

I still get asked why I lock the car doors as soon I get it and why I keep looking around when I stop at the robot. Like Jeff Cooper said, you gotta live in condition yellow where ever you.
Btw, you gotta agree prepping or not, a potjie (sorta a camp oven) is a must have.

It is a very sad state. I know what its like to live in a continual high stress and its not nice. One incident i had was locals first scaled cyclone fencing at 2.4mtrs high with 2 runs of barbed wire one time, then unbolted the whole bar grill from the concrete walls over the windows one night, so dont think bars are going to help you much, they just buy you some time if your home. If we had of had some dogs, it might have helped slow or stop them, but they even poisoned some peoples dogs first. This is why we had neighbors who trained their dogs to only eat from their dish in one spot. And this was in a country most wouldnt even think to worry about, let alone what seems to be going on in SA. Take a look at the current President leading people in a song about machine gunning white folk in SA down, no doubts the next bloke who is more extreme will action it if he gets in, far out! |

They spray the dogs with an insecticide in the face and it is usually dog down. Dogs can be very useful but, even more useful for defence if in the house as it is difficult to climb through a window with something trying to chew on you from he other side. They use hydraulic car jacks on the burglars to break them loose from the walls. All these things are deterrents and and for personal safety if you are in the house - that is why most of the places have private security that also do patrols. When the hordes come they still have bugout plans, but what I found interesting it is on a big scale and they are even prepping for refugees - which makes them very unique in the world. There is now everyday articles that the USA might soon be in a civil war, problems will soon break out all over. |

Hmmm ... where some may see the safety of congregating at a location with lots of people ... I can see a modern version of the Warsaw Ghetto where the intended victims self-congregate. If these folks are expecting to go up against a government backed hate campaign probably best to come on over to Oz now. It's hard not to see visions of European Jews circa 1938. Even with plenty of guns and ammo, once they're surrounded and under siege their fate is sealed - Stalingrad style.
Anyone here know the composition of SA military these days? Where would they stand in the event of Zimbabwe style anti-white activities?
