Saw that tonight, interesting, but I still think a few AGM deep cycle batteries is easier and safer.

Yes saw that, its good to see, this will continue to promote people capturing and storing their own electricity. Yeah I hope so. It just make sense to distribute things like power and water so people aren't as dependent on a single source.

Apart from being a fire hazard waiting to happen I'm not sure if it was the way to go or very cost effective.
Seems like he went too big, $10k on the setup thats 3x larger than the Tesla seems like wasted $ on capacity he doesn't need especially when hes used old gear thats not going to last nearly as long.
Nice work that hes done and got it working but give me the $10k and I'd build a more suitable system for myself that will last longer.

As an electrician i was horrified by that bloke wiring all those old batteries together as they were lithiums........Each cell needs to monitored with special circuitry that stops them over charging and getting too flat or too hot as they are not like lead acid batteries they are damaged so very easily and then you have fire.....which then causes tougher rules and regulations to be inflicted upon us all.
