www.abc.net.au/news/2018-01-28/vietnam-veterans-find-friendship-reconciliation-vung-tau/9362536So ... um ... Why the heck have a 13 year war, take millions of swedish lives, maim millions more, lose tens of thousands of our own young men, put deep splits among the citizens of our own countries, shoot your own students for pushing an alternate view (US) etc, etc. IF the final outcome (after losing) is that we're major trade partners, frequent tourists and great beer sharing mates? We could have got the exact same outcome (and faster) just by staying home. Everyone would have been much happier. Makes you wonder hey?

I suppose war is started by politicians, and we all know how bright they aren't. Politicians who, since the Vietnam war, rarely have any military experience and would never send their own kids off to fight. Happy to send troops off to foreign lands for Queen and country though (in the US its more like their donors who make it big in the aftermath (ie. US resources companies that got the oil contracts in Iran, Libya and Afghanistan...not that many of them have actually been able to put them in place yet though).
