Given my secondary location is well out of the way (its actually a pain in the ass to get to in some conditions), i'm wondering what everyones perspective is on how far out you have to be before you've bugged out - so how far away from a capital city would you consider is a minimum safe distance

I dont think there is any right or wrong distance wise, its how far away until you feel safe.
In the event of a bug out, my first stop is a mere 30ish km's from home. Close enough to gather ourselves and plan our trip, but remote enough to hide should we need to, from there we are about 3 hours by road. Last trip there we took the camper, used only forestry roads and took us a whopping 5 hours.
I still have a lot of planning regarding our bug out.

im already about 5 hours from a capital city, and in quite a regional location, so im relatively safe from most reasons to bug out per se, but if needed, im only about 15 mins from a very hard to reach/find from the main roads BOL ^_^ considering setting up a large cache there soon tbh
