Fuel prices here have reached the highs last seen in 2008 just before the GFC.
The difference is: The Brent Crude price back then was $130. Now it's only $80.
Nothing being said in either mainstream or 'alternate' media websites.
Anyone read anything about this? Got any theories?

Australians are suckers for punishment and cop a lot of crap before we break. high costs of food, fuel, housing, healthcare or anything else for that matter are crazy high compared to the rest of the world (except maybe europe) so why not gouge our purse a bit more? media is not interested cause the sheep be asleep. We’ll whinge but do nothing. BAU

Blatant pre planned gouging. Sheep aren’t bleating too loud because of the conveniently published ‘press releases’ re fuel stockpiles that haven’t been any different, just we know about it now.

Mate, since GFC price went from 147 to 33, up to 125, down to 26 and back to 80. Market size is at least ten times that of gold - one can manipulate it for short while but need billions. It is driven by fundamentals (supply/demand). Australia is not self-sufficient in oil production but that doesn’t affect price as much. However in SHTF situation you won’t be able to get petrol, diesel or LPG due to supply disruption and 1.5 month worth of fuel in reserves. Rationing would be best-case scenario. Wouldn’t recommend stocking large quantities of petrol at home - it won’t last long (unless filling rainwater tank with it which is probably illegal) but elevate risk big time.
