Omg some of the comments π
Lard is good, way better than anything made from oil. But their comments about suicide are wrong. It's been proven that during times of social upheaval and hardship the suicide rate actually drops. Something to do with survival instincts kicking in. Suicide rates go up when society is having an eaey time of it, like now! Life is so much easier than it used to be but mental illness and suicide is a lot higher than it used to be.

Yes. We need the lard to re-soften our arteries after consuming so much salt. It's also my standard reason for consuming a lot of red wine: Dissolve the lard out of my arteries! All I need now is a rationale for excess sugar consumption and I'm all good.

If I were any sweeter bees would try and pollinate me and I'd be covered in butterflies.

Growing up there was always a large can of Crisco (shortening) in the pantry. It isnβt lard but it damn sure bakes a beautiful pie and unopened will keep for ages (best before date is 2 years from manufacture but as hydrogenated oil as long as you keep it cool and dry it will stay good for 5-10 years easily).

Crisco is also excellent for seasoning cast iron cookware. I use it for that often, but I've never actually cooked with the stuff.

Apparently my grandfather's favourite food was lard and sugar on bread...something he craved growing up poor in the countryside, then happened to feed to my mum and her siblings a lot when they were growing up. Probably one of the reasons they all have bad teeth though.

Don't even tell us where it shines out of you either Hey, steady on. I'm a sensitive flower with delicate emotions! (Although my use of emogies could indicate latent Bipolar Disorder)
