Yeah this is a bit of a worry, with more and more data being stored off shore by these big companies something is bound to go pear shaped from identity theft to loss of data and key systems.

I work in the IT industry (so does hubby - him in data storage and analysis of all things lol) and I don't use Cloud Computing for this very reason. Way too much reliance that "someone" has a full backup/redundancy system in place for situations like long term loss of power, terrorist attack, EPM, solar flares etc. Hubby scoffs at my fears but then he is part of the "system"

cloud in itself isn't a bad concept. worry really is more whether the cloud is secure and if the NSA is sneakily looking at your data.
I've seen analysis and predictive analysis of something as simple as what I eat that day. The analytics can predict what i would eat.
That is really really scary. MAtrix/Terminator kinda SHTF scenarios

I also work(ed) in IT and I will not have a bar of the cloud. I can see advantages but they do not outweigh the risks IMO and anyway I don't have the data bandwidth to save stuff in the cloud, I can have a 1-gig photo file, try backing that up over a mobile phone every time you make a change How on earth can they analyse that, unless you are one of those people who tells everyone on Facebook what they had for breakfast Actually maybe they can get your shopping details from Woollies and infer a lot from that.
