Another time and I'll PM you on that one Jay. So far we have been lucky - mind if you were a betting person you would have lost trying to figure out T/C Dylan and T/C Hadi. They done some very different moves to what we'd normally see. I thought another one outside Australias area of responsibility my have caused a problem but it's dropping to the Sth now, it is called Lusi and was a decent size. We still are not in the clear for the season yet - pretty well everyone thinks we are due for one good last hoo-raa for this season (I,like many others won't mind if it's a fizzer of a season though)we haven't had a blow since Yasi (Left parts of T'ville without power for 9 days and 1 guy I spoke with out in the boonies was off-grid for 21days). There is a bit of activity up around 'Samoa' and 'Solomons' area by the look of the sat images - they 'could' develop more, it's wait and watch for me with those areas ATM - T/C's (like Bushfires - spent 30+ years dealing with them) are laws unto themselves as I've learned. Just never underestimate them.

Hi it's Sm+? can 1 of the mods help me to log back in pl. My brother-in-law lost my iPad and I haven't been able to get online since, I now have an other iPad but I can't remember my password to login with. I've been wanting to get some updates with info and have been wanting to show this site to my new partner, I've told him a lot about this site and he's asked to see it and to chat to some of you mob. He's computer illiterate so he's been asking to use my profile, with my help of course. So can some1 help me with resetting my password pl.

You should be able to get a password reset sent to the email address linked to your account

There's not much admin can do. There will always be lurkers if it's allowed. My experiences were similar to sentinel's. Some of those people post here as well, once bitten twice shy I guess.
By the way, LOVE your site. Great work by all.

Hi folks,
It seems you have a very close association with the OZprepper forum. I was wondering what was with that. I noticed that some of the moderators are comon to both but haven't had much of a presence on the OZprepper site lately. I'm interested in joining but I have some concerns. On the OZprepper forum I feel there is a particular moderator that seems to be isolating people from that site to a point where they are loosing members. My only concern is that the same influence would be present on this site as well. I have noticed that some active members on this site are no longer members on the other site, so I'm guessing somebody will understand what I'm asking.

Drop me a PM with your concerns George. Ausprep was born from a sense of wanting to go in a different direction to OZprepper and that holds true to this day. To the best of my knowledge there are no shared moderators across the two sites and each is independent of the other. If you believe this to be otherwise, again please PM me or you can email me at ausprepforum at gmail dot com.
Cheers, Nighthawk - Ausprep owner/lead admin

Oh I can guess who that member is George and as a member of both this is my unbias opinion.
- OZ has lots more posts - OZ prep has a LOT of silly ideas and conspiracy stuff - OZ has a moderator who really ought to be removed for personal attacks and vitriol in general, who has indeed pushed plenty of people away, who often uses his power if anyone argues his ideas. Aka one rule for him and a different for others. - Ausprep is awesome, more relaxed, more 'family friendly' as it were. - Ausprep is my preferred site - Ausprep keeps out the silly buggers for the most part and keeps peeps in check fairly and sticks to the rules for everyone.

Agree with you shiney Unfortunately it only takes one or two people with poor posting skills to start a downhill spiral of defensiveness and arguing Some topics are more likely to cause major disagreements than others, especially if you have a passionate viewpoint Ausprep hasn't had these problems and is a great place to learn and discuss in a friendly manner Well done moderators!

I am a lurker/ regular/ sometimes poster / newbie (not) here and I have found on other sites you tend to get shouted down if you have a differing idea on bugging in/out/prepping/just being prepared for a small scale scenario so maybe we need a space for newbies that can be acessed by anyone that is not too intimidating/shouting down to encourage people to open up more ....

I'm guilty of this myself sometimes, but usually because we used to think the same as the newbie and have since realised how wrong we were and hate ourselves just a little bit for it.
I try not to be too abrupt though. I think the problem with a "safe zone" for people with bad ideas is that if we as a group can't advise against their plans then they may be headed down the wrong path
