Always curious how everyone does this.
In the summer I store all my stuff in the house, behind the lounge ( I'm not real organised), when it cools down, in the shed in a few boxes/lockers.
I really need to get a better storage space/system.
Also, do you rotate your tins etc??

I only stock basic food supplies as i will be packing the camper and going should shtf.
we do rotate what we have though. Most of mine in stored in black plastic tubs with lids in the shed. Being a brick shed, it does stay fairly cool, even in the hotter months.

Mine is all in the kitchen in cupboards! I have one of those can rotation racks so yeah rotate everything! I know it is obvious in the kitchen but the ones who have seen it, have all said what a great idea it is! These people are people who dont live here but if they ever made it here during shtf I would be feeding them anyways!! The town where I live I have not got to know many people, only a couple.

Mine is currently in the cupboards too, but I should have a lot more space as of next week because we are moving out of our apartment and into a proper house. It has quite a few good storage areas so I'm looking forward to it!

About 2 weeks in the cupboard, I like to buy things on special and keep the excess in the house. I've stored food in the roof which obviously isn't good with the heat. I'm getting together some supplies for a couple of cache that will be fine for 10+ years that I will bury and keep hidden during the next few weeks.

honestly if it wasnt that i want to move within the next few months, i would be burying things in my yard under my shed, when i have my own home, i'll be making a cellar, though idk if it will be allowed technically as my area is considered a flood plain :/ (though we havent had water even within a km of my current location, and im certainly not going to be building where i have seen it flood before, lol)

In my Belly!.....damn I need to lose some weight this year!
Seriously though- Like Wayne, im a trailer and gone type guy. I have about 1 month for the family stored in the trailer, 3 months in the attached garage, and have plans to bury a cache or two in the next few weeks at two of my three BOL's...these caches will be at least a month of food/and other goodies at each locale.

In a Food storage Room on the ground floor or as the Family likes to call it, The Market. Also a 2.8 X 4m Walk in pantry with shelves from the ground to the roof. 10ft ceiling. I always back fill so our tucker is constantly rotating. I recently stayed overnight in Toolangi forest and had a can of beans that had been in my truck for a few months getting hot and cold and it tasted like Shit! It was that bitter it was hard to eat. Have never had that happen before but I dont think I have ever put an tinned food through those kind of weather extremes. 40 outside is around 55 to 60 inside the cab so they were getting cooked and cooled, cooked and cooled etc etc.

Even just for overnight trips!

Yeh that sound much more organized than what I was talking about! haha. I always have food in my BOB which goes with me everywhere but I really wanted Bakeys for dinner that night and they were in my range/truck bag which never leaves the vehicle. I don't intentionally store tucker in the truck, the tins of beanz and spag were in there from last hunting trip with my son. Grose!

I have our food stored in 44gal steel drums in our spare room! Nice and cool in the summer! And ready to move if necessary! We are using the same 44gal drums for all the other stores as well. NO MICE, No Bugs! Med Supplies are in plastic containers for now! Going to get some 200lt plastic barrels for them!

Yeah, that's my longer term goal, though will have to wait till I've moved to my own place. Would be nice if you could get 50L ones tbh. Most of my stores are in plastic buckets and drums and whilst we have an awesome hunting cat next door and our little kitten is coming up to speed, the risk of loosing stores to rodents is a significant one.

Hey SS, here is where I get my drums! and I am pretty sure they have small drums! I got mine from Warwick, but they are in Brissy! www.tilkey.com.au/

Thanks bud, I suppose the closest thing to a small one is the paint pales which you can get in 20L in metal [better without paint]. I like smaller as they're possible to transport by hand, put in a car and pretty much anyone can move them. Also if something happens to one, you don't loose 200L worth. You've given me a good reminder though, even if the cats in the area are awesome, it only takes one rodent to potentially ruin all of the stores.
