Most Chinese students studying overseas are there due to their parents' wealth, rather than any academic prowess...basically the opposite of those who studied overseas in the eighties and nineties, who were the cream of Chinese academia and looking to gain knowledge internationally. Many of those then-students who stayed overseas and integrated into their new countries (particularly post 1989 massacre) look at these rich kids splashing their money about, not going to class, acting like gangsters etc in disgust.
