I have been considering a container for extra storage.. Not underground as that seems too much trouble to get one to work well. I've been thinking of a used container that can be made as rodent proof as possible for feed storage. Yes, it will cost to set up this storage, but it will mean less handling of feed than using the existing storage we have. That area can be used efficiently for other things.
My thought was to use one as an end wall to a lean too covered area on one side of our big barn. A good enough idea except it is too tall in relations to the ground in that area, and the existing roof height thus making a too flat a roof over the container and open area next to the barn.
So idea number 2 is to set a container out away from the barn, and build a gable roof over it. Remember, I have to deal with a significant amount of snow load 7/12 of the year. Also it is possible to build a kind of second story between the top of the container and under the roof. Third option would be to build an independent barn of 2 containers and roof over both with an alley way in between.
Still scratching head and thinking of alternatives...
