i reckon instead of using the entire match, I would nip parts and just have the match heads plus maybe a few mm and stick into my pots.

The extra match body can be used to make firestarters with stormproof matches. I saw a youtube vid about home made tornado matches which are quite funky... though i disagree with the rubber inner tube... now if only i remember where I saw that video ...
