The term "snowflake generation" was one of Collins Dictionary's 2016 words of the year. Collins defines the term as "the young adults of the 2010s, viewed as being less resilient and more prone to taking offence than previous generations".

I know plenty of people in their 40's and 50's who are snowflakes. IMO it's the result of the soft lifestyles they live.
Case 1: the latte sipping metro cop who stood frozen in fear as his partner gets knifed in the back at a Sydney railway station. The cop who took a 45cm blade in the back draws on the scum and then his useless partner finally reacts. I would have double tapped the scumbag then administered first aid to my partner. But then I wasn't raised wrapped in cotton wool by gun hating vegan tree huggers. I hope Useless F$%k cop gets a desk job.

I watched the first video and laughed my way through it. But I am powerless really to comment because of my white man privilege. I watched that girl and was amazed over how pathetic she came across - but making that comment, makes me a bully with privilege My story is not dis-similar to Frostbite in another thread - poor parents who worked their arses off to get my sister and I educated. I worked my arse off in return and now have a good job with a good income. Over the course of my life I have been assaulted, abused and interacted with many unpleasant people who have called me names and said mean things about me - but I have the last laugh and the hard work has been worth it. I have a close group of supportive friends - why would I care what some dickhead thinks. I watch this girl and I just have an overwhelming sense of sadness that she is reduced to tears by a tweet from Donald Trump - FFS - where is her perspective. He is a politician appealing to a demographic to get in and now stay in power - he only cares about himself - yes he is in an important role in the world - but seriously, why would you be reduced to tears by a mean tweet....... But she is not alone, and her world view seems worse amoung the educated - I despair.
The world view that "i need to be protected from things that make me feel uncomfortable' / "you make me feel uncomfortable therefore you are a bad person and your ideas are not valid" is taking us down a very slippery slope.
Now Radio NZ here in NZ is putting trigger warning before stories........

the snowflakes will be some of the first to die in a city that has people losing their minds, whether it be a natural disaster or looting/rioting gangs.
Extreme violence that is first hand witnessed may leave them too slow to react.
Soft lives, with no need to dig deep inside oneself to overcomes life's many harsh lessons, will leave them unable to find the proper way to deal with any new unexpected experience, in enough time to get themselves out of danger.
Nature culls the herd - the strongest survive, the weakest are culled.
The strong, aware, ability to adapt to new shocking experiences in real time, up close and personal will make a difference.
We are seeing a new kind of helpless human, instead of needing and receiving help to survive life up to their formative childhood years, some are still helpless into their 50's.
This is a huge number of people.
reality may be harsh at times, but the choice to ignore it as much as possible by some adults can only continue for a specific length of time.
when that time is up and they have to act and decide immediately, in what may be a life and death situation, their inability to even cope with the changes that are happening in society now, will leave them at a distinct disadvantage, compared to the hardened reality-seeking and knowledgeable people who stay on top of the news and changing society that proceeds through the years, who then react and make changes as and where required and then continue on with their day's activities, knowing they have done what they can, with the current info to hand.
when circumstances change again, adjustments are made again with plans etc, and they continue as before, knowing they have done all they can to protect themselves and their families.
the tragedy that may unfold is that reality seeking people will be stymied by their need to help the snowflakes, who will resist the current scenario...know when to move on.
People make their own choices all the time, and refusing to choice a specific life saving course of action is also the snowflakes prerogative.
