I think the media's 'go to prepper' needs a whole lot more than an INCH bag, an idea where some old bunkers are, and a few buried pvc pipes containing limited amounts of food if he really believes an astetoid impact is likely.

I try to be both. Probably more prepper (goods) than survivalist (skills), but my plan is designed according to what I see as the most probable events.

The way I see it, a "prepper" plans for a short term SHTF, whereas a "survivalist" plans for the end of the world with the will to live on

There's an old WW2 bunker complex near me. Was backfilled many years ago and then cleared out and partially restored. It's a haven for druggos and assorted other undesirables. Not the sort of place to hide out unless you're prepared to 'clean' the place up.
