FTR: that 'like' was for the interest of the article not joy at our strategic affairs being in disarray.
And as in the lead up to WW1 and WW2 we are sending more troops to the middle east? What is going on at the top?

Unfortunately for us, the government will take years or decades to start upgrading forward bases/increase fleet sizes etc with lots and lots of bureaucratic red tape to hinder things and add tens of millions to the process. Add to this the very long build time for new ship builds and to buy new fighter jets. Instead of buying battle tested machines off the shelf and upgrading some software etc in them to suit our systems they could be operational in half the time.
Now we will be caught with our pants down if China gets tired of playing games
