Most people, even preppers don't realise just how quickly people will turn into animals in a time like that. The moment they realise that the government won't come and help in a real SHTF

Under the circumstances it won't be too long before law and order will be reinstated, so (in my opinion) the challenge there is to look after yourself and fend off the looters/crooks without creating a situation where you get thrown in jail for your actions when law and order is restored. So I think I'd be defending myself pretty aggressively in order to make other options more attractive/less painful/easier to the crooks.

A few short videos on the scale of the disaster. 45% of all houses not inhabitable or simply gone. Canadian prepper did a good vid report on the situation. Aireport gone most roads not working very hard for security to get around.

Don't live at sea level or in a floodplain.
What a sh$tfight. Imagine being well supplied, in the only intact house for several blocks and having dozens of hungry, desperate and aggressive people converge on you.
Do you bugout, leave your safe haven and supplies to the horde and become as desperate as them, or do you take up arms and shoot everyone within your perimeter?

It is a serious moral dilemma, there is no hiding and no where to bugout to, unless you are the only person with a usable boat (inflatable life rat or something), and happy to brave the sea.
The hurricane basically stalled over the island for 3 days at cat 5 worst hurricane to ever hit the island - will be a good few days before one could think of braving the ocean.
There is some aid coming in but no hosing and not enough food and water. When the global economy completely collapses there will be no outside assistance. One can only imagine the horrors of being caught up in a place like that.
