Is Trump really this stupid? He has tweeted that the US is locked and loaded to attack Iran and is waiting for the Saudi's to issue the order to fire. Since when does a US president take orders from a middle east dictator?

All the more reason to fast track hydrogen fuel cell tech. Then we can say goodbye to the ME for transport energy security.

Since when does a US president take orders from a middle east dictator? It wasn't orders he was waiting for, it was confirmation that the attack came from Iran.

So will the government finally do something about the deplorable state of the national fuel reserve, or just go back to the usual excuse that there's always other sources available or that it would cost too much to do something? I've recently come to the conclusion that the main reason China is pushing electrified transportation (from electric cars and buses to high speed trains covering the whole country) is actually due to declining oil availability and aim to move away from imported fuel, rather than dealing with climate change as their stated reason. With the amount of sunlight many Australian cities get, it actually makes sense to move public transport etc over to solar powered electric modes, rather than rely on oil-based fuels that can suddenly be cut off without much warning.

Reports coming in now say they were scud missiles, not drones!

If it was Scuds, then surely military assets from the US or another country in the area would have picked them up? As it stands, no other countries are saying they picked up any activity at all. So, was it drones, missiles or something else (lots of conspiracy theories linking the resulting high oil prices to being a good result for the Saudi's Aramco oil company's IPO this week).

Has there been any run on petrol stations in Australia? I don't know what has been said by the govt here in China, but the petrol stations have had big lines outside them whenever I've been past this week. Just saw this about Australia's fuel reserves: www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-19/australia-remains-vulnerable-to-running-out-of-fuel/11527492(In its latest review of Australia's liquid-fuel security, the Department of Environment and Energy found Australia had reserves of 18 days of petrol, 22 days of diesel and 23 days of jet fuel.)
