So we had a blackout for an hour and it was so much fun (haha) to see how we reacted! Hubby wanted to read a book (he doesn't get to do this often), my little one got her lantern and turned it on while I got the big lantern out! I also turned on our small radio which little one loved as she could dance around! We all got very noisy and my 17yo son just didn't cope with the thought of no electricity ! He had to wash his uniform for work which was done in the bathtub and the bucket with plunger setup I had made to do washing in! Hubby had planned to do moussaka for dinner but we did not have the oven so I said I would use the fondue set to cook the mince etc but before I could the lights came back on. We also all had a shower as we did not know how long it would all be out for! Hahaha

Its a great chance to put your plans into practice, and as you said Rem it is actually a lot of fun.

Yeah I think the longer one goes on (we had one here for 5 hours) the more you think ok, what if it doesn't come back on, what are my next steps etc. In that first 1-6 hours I think its just a laugh for the kids etc, but Im still keeping an eye on the power outages and an ear on the radio in case it is something bigger.

We had a bit of a strong wind and I think that was the issue but there wasn't a huge storm or anything!

I really liked the fact that my four year old knew to turn her lamp on (its a battery operated one)!

They have been fixing our lines for the past 12months, and we loose power from 8am-4pm once a month! With out storm outage!
My oil lamps all work well, as dose the gas stove....and the new Genset powers the water pump and the fridge and freezer and yes the TV...LOL
