In a hospital collapse - which very may well happen here in the US - with rationing of care now... how are your supplies to be able to manage small emergencies at home? Just did inventory of mine, and it was bad. Thought I had more than I did. What would you suggest for a home medical small emergency kit contain? Sterile dressings (size, numbers?), bandages, antiseptic, over the counter pain relief, butterfly sutures, syringe for cleaning cuts, bp monitor, thermometer? Anything else?

I actually seriously considered getting some seeds for long term storage. One of the operational sites where I work closed a few months back, I do the demolition and rehab.. They sold all the prefab buildings include the toiled block that has the first aid station next door. So I cleaned it out now have plenty of eye wash, dressings, antiseptic, bandages, masks, pain killers, suture kit, scalpel. The safety guys took all the good stuff like temp check, defib, O2 meters, left the rest prob out of date... I have been stocking up on anti meds, diarrhoea, inflammatory, antihistamine, biotics (fish), potassium iodine (Chinese nukes), hay fever. BP check kit, suture kit reference books, etc.. there is an endless amount of meds to get for storage. Purchased a military suture kit a few years back at the Maitland Arms Fair, just found out it was to be held next week but cancelled due to covid lockdown.

famotidine/diphenhydramine for allergic reactions iodine bag valve mask and AED if you can... ibuprofen/acetaminophen
I tend to not use anti-diarrhea meds as you want whatever it is to come out, I prefer activate charcoal, but it doesn't hurt to have these in case of emergency. anti nausea meds - zofran (prescription) allegra, claritin, (allergy meds)

I'll come out with a list for a comprehensive emergency kit here this week. Right now I'm hanging with the hubs and trying to calculate what our solar load will be at the new place.

And some training to go with the supplies I assume. I did a tactical trauma course before covid hit and ended face to face training, but would like to do a similar hands on course that deals with long term treatment of minor injuries.

I worked in a very remote 3rd world country for a year. My GP who used to be involved in aid medical for refugee camps. He prescribed me some long-life antibiotics and said I need to get anti-diarrhea and with those two items one can get yourself out of most situations till one can get to medical support. Well I had a perforated appendix that took a almost 2 days to get medical attention, Ended up in a basement of a hospital (no English speaking medical person), with paint pealing from the roof the doc sitting on a plastic bucket, gave me a spinal block and did the operation while I was awake. Finally got the appendix out and was not happy as it was gangrenous. I was extremely nauseous at the time as soon as the appendix came out the nausea left. Yip the wound got infected and ended up having to get it opened up again to drain, ended up with a hernia that had to be fixed later. Two things that saved me: - I started taking the antibiotics which might of prevented a much bigger issue.
- At that stage I had internet access (Satellite) and was able to self diagnose that it was my appendix, so took urgent measures to get medical support.
Correct diagnoses of a medical issue to me after that experience is everything. One can download entire Wikipedia to a memory drive or SD, if one does not have good medical reference books.

China's problems are starting, defaults, protects. www.zerohedge.com/economics/evergrande-denies-rumors-bankruptcy-crisis-boils-over-social-unrest-break-out-acrossChina Evergrande Group, the largest and most indebted, and certainly most insolvent property developer in China, is - together with its $300+ billion in debt - rapidly approaching its "China moment." Five days after reports of a technical default at Evergrande, which slammed China's property market and sent Chinese junk bond yields to the highest level since March 2020, the company took the unprecedented step of publishing a statement on its website, according to which it is "indeed facing unprecedented difficulties but it firmly fulfills responsibilities." The company added that it will go all out to resume work and production, ensure to deliver buildings, do everything possible to restore normal operations, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of customers.

Typically, hospitals will cut their obstetrics services first in an effort to save money. If that is not successful, then the hospital could fold. This was a trend we saw a couple years ago with the closure of rural hospitals. FWIW, this happened where I used to work. The hospital was constantly in the red. They stopped seeing OB patients. Then there were large cuts to other departments. Then the hospital closed. It was part of a larger network of hospitals but they cut their losses and closed it. Huge blow to the community and we are seeing it all around the country. We are about to be in a bad spot. www.usnews.com/news/healthiest-communities/articles/2019-06-13/what-happens-when-rural-communities-lose-their-hospital-maternity-care

Chinas largest real-estate developer is now under, called in bankruptcy specialist, suspended trading of bonds, no longer paying interest or principle on debt. I think think this is just the begging's prior to the flood of bankruptcy of too big to fail companies. Yip on the 13'th anniversary of Lehman's bankruptcy filing for those that are superstitious. www.zerohedge.com/markets/evergrande-suspends-trading-all-bondsEarlier today we pointed out that in what can (obviously) only be a remarkable coincidence, China's largest, and most systematically important real estate developer, China Evergrande (and its $300+ billion in debt), collapsed on the 13th anniversary of Lehman's bankruptcy filing, when Beijing told Evergrande's creditor banks that the insolvent company, which recently hired Houlihan Lokey as bankruptcy advisor, would not pay interest on its debt next week, nor would it repay principal, in effect blessing the coming default.

I need to read more into the Evergrande situation, it's huge. The fact that the CCP hasn't bailed them out is fascinating.

We went full commo bailing out the big end of town during the GFC and covid. We could learn a thing or two if this is in fact real.

I need to read more into the Evergrande situation, it's huge. The fact that the CCP hasn't bailed them out is fascinating. It is getting messy, unrest China style has started. China’s Nightmare Evergrande Scenario Is an Uncontrolled Crashwww.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-09-16/china-s-nightmare-evergrande-scenario-is-aProtests intensify at China Evergrande Group offices across the country as the developer falls further behind on promises to more than 70,000 investors. Construction of unfinished properties with enough floor space to cover three-fourths of Manhattan grinds to a halt, leaving more than a million homebuyers in limbo. Fire sales pummel an already shaky real estate market, squeezing other developers and rippling through a supply chain that accounts for more than a quarter of Chinese economic output. Covid-weary consumers retrench even further, and the risk of popular discontent rises during a politically sensitive transition period for President Xi Jinping. Credit-market stress spreads from lower-rated property companies to stronger peers and banks. Global investors who bought $527 billion of Chinese stocks and bonds in the 15 months through June begin to sell.Enraged Evergrande Investors Go Full Pitchfork, Hold Management Hostage In Company Officeswww.zerohedge.com/markets/enraged-evergrande-investors-go-full-pitchfork-hold-management-hostage-company-officesAfter accumulating some 1.97 trillion yuan (US$410 billion) in liabilities, the company - which became the country's largest high-yield dollar bond issuer (16% of all outstanding notes) - sparked protests across the country earlier this week after announcing they were forced to delay payments on up to 40 billion yuan in wealth management products. As we noted earlier Thursday, in an effort to appease its angry (and very soon, poor) stakeholders, Evergrande plans to let consumers and staff bid on discounted apartments this month as compensation for billions in overdue investment products as the embattled developer seeks to preserve cash, according to people familiar with the matter. According to Bloomberg, the company will organize an online property event by Sept. 30 for investors who opt for real estate in lieu of cash. The world’s most-indebted property developer is pushing the discounted real estate as the preferred of three options for angry investors seeking repayments. The plan, it would appear, did not go off quite as planned: in response, nearly 100 investors stormed Evergrande's headquarters to demand their money back.

This Is How Contagion From Evergrande's Default Will Spread To The Rest Of The World "There is probably no company that is more representative of the investment bubble than Evergrande. Its the biggest pyramid scheme the world has yet seen."
Something historic will happen this week: as Beijing warned last week, China's largest and most indebted property developer, Evergrande, will default on some (or all) of its $313 billion in debt. And while some in the financial media are trying to talk down the significance of this event, make no mistake - this will be China's "Lehman moment", the only question is whether it will be controlled and contained, or will it be chaotic (i.e.m the "Nightmare Scenario" discussed on Thursday) and lead to worldwide contagion and a global deflationary shockwave. The answer will depend on how Beijing reacts and what it does in response.
