I have some sweet potatoes that are sprouting madly. Is there any point planting the slips at this time of year? I’m keen to grow them for leaves as well as tubers but will go ahead with a cool weather planting if it will just give greens. Of course, I don’t want to waste space and soil if it will do nothing though.

I just have minimal space, and I do have packets of lettuce seeds etc. So I don’t want to take up space waiting to see if these will grow if there is experience here that I won’t even get greens. Happy to plant them if they may give their usual abundance of greens.
