I saw today that Warrior Poet Society you tube channel is setting up their own streaming service to overcome the censorship constraints imposed by youtube. I've often heard other prepper channels complaining about how youtube tries to bury their content etc. For a while Ive been wondering, is there an alternative to you tube which operates without a youtube like nanny state policy around allowable content?

l’d be reluctant to use the word chute in a search these days😬. I tried to find alternatives and found one that was ok bit just didn’t have enough content. I’ll see if i can find it and get the name of it too you. The more people that use it the more power to become a viable alternative to spyonyoutube.

I'm sure there is a need for social media channels that are not so tightly constrained. Today's social media represents a politically correct, neutralised, view of the world which is at least somewhat if not largely removed from how real people see the world. Its like life toned down to appease the sheeple. Its detached from reality.
Even as a photographer (of art nudes) I was constrained by social media because god forbid there was ever a nipple in a photo, lest someone take offence.
So yeah I hope that enough people are dissatisfied with the current state of meddling by social media that a less restrictive platform(s) can gain momentum and host sufficient content to become viable for the longer term.
Ps I do recognise that extremist/illegal material (left & right) has to be dealt with and its not a simple task, there just has to be something between open slather (i.e bad) and where social media is at right now (also bad).
Maybe it should be called hardenuptube. 😏

One of the survival/prepper/outdoor YT channel that I follow move to gunstreamer it is not just guns but that is a strong theme. Do a search for prepper content there is a bit - one can post any legal content and share but just does not-have the same subscriber base/. gunstreamer.com/

milspec i think that's what the Fedi-verse is for - it's essentially a bunch of independent social media servers that interoperate. You can have an account on a home server with a culture/rules you like, and follow and interact with people from other communities (servers). Mastodon dot social is the starting one, and then Spinster is a bunch of feminists who mastodon have blocked for being terfs, but spinster have their own standards on what they will and won't allow (e.g. no illegal content or incitement to violence). (For the record, I don't have an account on either of these servers.) The reason i mention this is because 'less restrictive platform' means different things to different people. It depends on your perspective whether you think the problem is the ones in charge of everything being wrong about things you care about - or whether the problem is concentrated power per se (the fact that one group has a near monopoly). They have pixelfed for image/video hosting (similar concept but looks like insta instead of tw*tter) and peertube
