Well, tried my batch of Kvas - wow - really nice - looks like beer, smells like beer, but quite sweet and pleasant tasting.
Highly recommend this recipe - not for everyone, but definitely worth a try.
Cost wise was bugger all - 1 loaf dark rye bread was reduced to $2, handful raisins 0.50c, sugar about 0.40c, yeast about 0.20c.
About $3.10 for about 5-6 litres of drink.
