The only way the Chinese can identify Australian barley is with the paperwork that accompanies it.
Paperwork is rather easy to fudge. That is why, for example, Australia imports frozen Chinese vegetables that say they are from other places that are not China.
I say we make our friends in NZ or Naru into the biggest exporter of Barley in the Asia Pacific region thru the magic of corporate shenanigans.
Our big trading companies (ie Glencore) are already overseas based anyway. For all the Chinese know, our Barley can be Canadian or vice-versa.

China imposes 80pc tariff on Australian barley for next five years amid global push for coronavirus investigation ++++ This is kind of interesting... Why would they put a tariff on something they use to feed there people.. ?? ?? Can they get it somewhere else ?? Let there people go without ?? A couple years ago now (?) China stopped buying Canadian canola oil for some excuse seemingly over something said about there human rights policy.. So it seems it was partially a thing to say to Trudeau, watch your mouth.. Some thought it was just to get a better price... Maybe... maybe not... Does China feel they are in a position to put a hurt on other countries by actions like this. ?? ?? Maybe some countries.. Likely not all.. BIL does a lot of custom plant, custom harvest of small grains, canola and the like.. He says there markets are recovering.. I'm going to guess many countries will jump at the chance of food stuffs coming available.. Lots of countries selling Barley, so China can buy from others. It just hurts Australia by making it less competitive. It won’t really increase prices or decrease availability in China. Australian government has bit by bit over a long time let everything diminish in terms of capability. Globalisation. Just sell a few raw items to one country and import everything. Don’t make anything. Don’t invent anything. Don’t own anything. Don’t have any enterprise, innovation, invention, manufacturing, engineering, etc. Our economic complexity (diversity) is very low, declining from what it had been. We put all our eggs in one basket, handing all the power to China. China has us by the balls and they aren’t stupid. We are America’s dog always doing their bidding, but it is China that can crush us with the stroke of a pen. We used to make cars. We used to make engines and car parts. Now we have no domestic capability. We have no self reliance. If oil shipments stopped coming in we’d run out of fuel within weeks and they would mean no more trucking food from farms to cities. We have foreign owned companies mining under our drinking water. It’s ridiculous the amount of risk and lack of planning and foresight our leaders have. They are all corrupt and destroying the nation and the environment. Our future.

It's disgusting New Zealand buys poisonous shit from China repackage it with a label "Product of New Zealand" and then sell it to Australia! It's equally appalling that Australian Government bottom feeders allow them to do it!

The real dodgy ones say “made in shitsville using products from multiple sources” ah no thanks. I try to be quite weary of this label also... No telling how many hands the products or the paper work for the products has gone through.. Here in the far north, shipping can be an issue, so the range of goods we get is wide.. When you start reading labels variety narrows significantly..

Pompeo is right though. The Victorian government made an incredible blunder in signing up to the CCP Belt and Road. Didn't consult DFAT or the federal government in something that is really a federal, not state issue.

1. We must muzzle our politicians. Haha - sorry, we are not the CCP who eliminate dissenters. Free speech is somewhat alive and well here. 2. I love the reference to the Wolverines and the "club" Where do I join???

The only thing needed from China is Battlefield Pick Ups! Something like this in PLA equivalent would be awesome! Everything else will be buy "Australian Made"! :- So when the Chinese invasion fleet gets here I wonder if the Police will charge them with possession of prohibited weapons or they will determine that PLA Personnel have an exemption?

Let's sell them our barley marked "Made in New Zealand". Seems to work well enough the other way around.
