Thanks Milspec for the heads-up.
I agree, this Bill goes way too far.

They go way too far! So they can all just go git farked including the Feds that monitor this forum! If you got an issue with it boys just PM me and I'll help you work through it!
Dutton wants to be Prime Minister he feels dudded from last time, he needs to leave his mark and doesn't mind using his ASIO toy boys to help out!
"The security apparatus in Australia may seem grossly out of proportion to the threat; except that Dutton see all of us as the threat. There is a dangerous mix of self-righteousness, lust for power and incompetence at work here. He won't be stopped by Morrison and Labor will need new spine; it's also unlikely that Hanson or Lambie will stick up for us from the cross benches. As others have said here, this man is the greatest danger to Australian democracy since Rupert Murdoch."
"This is very scary. In the long run, much more dangerous than CV-19 crisis. Dutton wants more power, with little oversight. He should move over to China, and will fit in well with this line of thinking. Totalitarian regime. Unfortunately we have approx 100,000 fly in asylum/refugees/commercial opportunist that are in the country, having grown from 15,000 during his watch. Deal with this issue, and Dutton doesn't need any new powers. PM is showing poor judgement by allowing and therefore supporting this type of thinking. SMH please keep printing these type of articles."

The SMH prints this this week. Cue false flag event. Just after SMH prints "We need this legislation". Politicians appear on TV using words like "necessary, bold, safety, horrific, etc". Laws get passed.
Just more boiling the frog. Do you feel warm yet?

This is the issue. If you beleive the headlines, the LNP has done a great job of stopping the illegal immigrants. Until you work out 10 times more people come in on planes than ever came on boats. Yes, Border Force does catch and remove some of the visa over-stayers, but they don't seem to be able to find them unless they're engaged in dodgy business of one sort or another (from kiwi bikies who've been in Aus since they were kids to Asian immigrants employing people on tourist visas). Meanwhile, if they're employers are mates with government ministers, then they will facilitate them not being sent back (ie. the multiple au pairs approved for mates). Meanwhile, I've been working in Asia for two decades, but still need to renew my work visa every year, report to the cop shop with proof of residence every time I move house etc etc. If I overstay my visa, its a fine that increases per day and then ends up in deportation if too many days pass. Just a thought, I wonder how many people will be over-staying due to COVID-19, then claiming that they are refugees once they decide they like Aus more than back home?

Oh boy, interestingly there has been a massive recruitment drive produced by the AFP (yet alone state police)........

They dont need to get the Army involved. That is the one that gets me. There is absolutely no need for it. We the people are the enemy under this model.

The Army have only been involved with medical assistance - no one I know was called up, just put on alert. If we had a scenario like the US, Italy, UK etc, then yes, they would be called up. Apart from assisting in medical areas, they would have also been used to stand by on closed border checkpoints - all under the local Police authority. No weapons, no physical enforcement, bound by Military Rules and Laws. Thankfully, we got the virus under control pretty quick, and unless it explodes in a second wave, don't like the chances of seeing the Military.
