I somehow don’t think this is surprising news. In fact, the same could be said for many parts of the world. BTW we are all still waiting for the major quake that has been due to hit LA and other ares of California for the last 50 or so years! But people in the quake prone areas should still be prepared, regardless of whatever predictions are currently floating around. Simply because these people live in a quake prone area - just the same as some people thatlive in in areas that may experience a bushfire, a drought or whatever other known natural disaster. They should be prepared for what they know may one day happen in their area.

They should be prepared for what they know may one day happen in their area. Spot on - and one thing in the article was the suggestion of having an emergency kit and extra supplies of goods.

Tokyo has known this for decades and has prepared itself accordingly. There will still be problems and probably casualties, but not the total disaster that happens in Iran/Pakistan/wherever.
