Even in the central deserts it would be interesting watching participants trying to take down camels, brumbies, wild cattle, donkeys, emu and roo's. Then watching them battle to get the meat dried quickly enough to preserve it. The psychology of battling hordes of flies and mozzies. (I gather mozzies were a morale sapper in the arctic series?) Yes, bigger 'home ranges' would be required. Probably a 10km radius minimum - depending on the type of country. Insects mosquitoes and horse flies etc were a major problem first 2 weeks till the cold came. In the desert, hydration and constantly having to boil water would be a problem. Needs to get some funding and we can have an Aussie style alone survival show.

I'm looking at doing my own private 'alone' year after next; although with a bit of extra gear. Already got a location picked out. Just something I have on my bucket list.

There are a lot of disgruntled people with season 3 outcome, as she was medically withdrawn due to BMI getting too low. The winner was quite obese at start of show, which is a massive advantage. They so want a woman to win, the comments get nasty.

That was the other young woman (Carleigh) not same as the one that got bit by spider. But I agree ... she should have been declared joint winner and paid. Fowler was also on the very edge of getting pulled out on medical grounds.
I'm bloody addicted to the show now. Playing catch up watching all series on-line.

If only I could do the challenge in a place where you didn't need to eat fish to survive (don't eat any seafoods) then I could drop this gut on me lol

It is the only reality TV that's got to me. Check the danish version out, there were some interesting things done, no prize money, and contestants are not the hard core primitive wildernesses instructors, but they do good. There are a lot of YT that now do 7 to 30 day challenges usually in pairs, take no food except for spices, they do choose optimal time for plant gathering.

Just watched series 2 ep 2. Towards the end of the show watching one splitting kindling and thinking "This will end badly." And so it did. It was like watching a child playing with a rattlesnake. Who ARE these crazies who roll in with such lack of skill? Don't get me started about the dude who drops his ferro rod into his fire! Free for view at:

Free for view at: Mate that dude is Joe Robinet , a big YouTube channel personality and bushcraft name and I agree he's a muppet , I cant watch his channel at all due to that haha. Interesting this proves the one is none rule aye. This season is the best yet ! No crybabies for their mummy this time around.

Just finished watching season 5 -redemption. That was interesting. Some who went really deep into physical decay in their season of origin tapped out earlier this time around. They learned the recovery process after the show was long and slow and not worth doing a second time.
Just started season 6.

Season 6 for the first time ever one participant did not take a ferrorod as part of his 10 items, skill levels are are going up in season 6 and 7

If one could find uninhabited areas, with a number of water holes or along a river, alone Australia could be doable in outback west.

Alone started a new series called the beast, no tools,, just cloths. Three participants working together get one freshly killed animal, moose, or croc etc.. And have to survive for 30 days. Each episode is full 30 days. Watched one was quite good.
They are now casting for a survival show like alone but you get to take your dog with. The dog will get fed every night but not the participants.

At one stage, in the early days of the colony, the ownership of dogs was severely restricted in Tasmania. This was because they were so successful at hunting wallabies that all the working class people/ex cons were getting dogs and just wandering off into the bush to build bark huts and eat well of meat and yams. Aboriginies also took to hunting with dogs with great enthusiasm. This left the rich folks with a scarcity of labor to build their business infrastructure and farms. At that stage, both life expectancy and quality of life for poor people were much higher in Van Diemens Land than they were anywhere else in the European world.

Where are you guys finding all the full episodes?. YT seems to mainly have small individual segments. What was the link above on S2e2 shown on? I just started watching them and so far it’s quite enjoyable.
