When I checked the Chinese media this morning, they just mentioned a few Indians being killed in a misunderstanding on the border. No mention of any Chinese casualties. I guess it won't be long until Chinese overseas translate that news and send it back via social media. Big thing will then be to see whether the censors delete all info as quickly as possible (probably considering twice as many Chinese were apparently killed), or if they will go on a big anti-India media offensive. Some of my colleagues have been talking up war with Taiwan by the end of the year (going on all the media reports of Taiwanese planes interfering in Chinese airspace etc). I mentioned that I reckon China will try somewhere else (India, Vietnam, Mongolia etc) before the US election, just to gauge what the Yanks do, then maybe hit Taiwan later if they reckon the Yanks won't interfere. Didn't reckon they would go for India so soon (although knew of the military build-ups there for weeks). |

Unlikely. Nobody will back NK. Not even China this time. They know they have a border dispute with pretty much every neighbour. If the ever got involved in something and caused WWIII, they would instantly be facing a conflict on multiple borders.

From what I can see, the PRC has a territorial dispute with the following nations Republic of China (Taiwan) Japan Phillipines Vietnam Brunei Malaysia Nepal India Bhutan Pakistan Tajikstan Indonesia Russia North Korea South Korea en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_territorial_disputes#AsiaThat would have to be the largest number of any country and practically surrounds China. |
