My ire gets raised when blow-ins buy up blocks in farming areas and then start complaining when crops around them are getting sprayed with 'stinky' chemicals or an Air-tractor zooms over their property leaking a bit of urea or Fenitrothion.
FFS ... you moved into this world ... learn to accept the realities.

FFS ... you moved into this world ... learn to accept the realities. Agree with that one 100%. If you want an organic, hippy lifestyle, move to an organic, hippy area. Don't get pissy that people with legitimate farming businesses don't do things the way you think they should be done. I don't cut in on your soy milk having carageenen in it Brenda, stop whinging about my spotlighting at 2am when you're so far away you can barely even hear it! There's this thing called research. It's what you do before you buy a property. We're looking to buy in the country soon. Luckily we have family there because we were looking at a 2 acre block that was pretty attractive and the house was great. Turns out there's a farmer with a large property directly over the road (and generally upwind) who uses some pretty hectic sprays. We want to be able to grow with minimal chemical interference. I don't care what someone else does (as long as it's legal lol) with their own crop but we want to be able to avoid chemicals where we can. We're not freaked out by them, we just want to avoid exposure if we have the choice. So you know what we did? We made the choice and WE DIDN'T BLOODY BUY IT. Honestly. Some people are so used to getting what they want just by whinging about it that they assume that people will change their businesses just to suit someone that lives 2km up the road.

We are hearing a similar story about city peeps wanting 100acre+ properties from our selling agent as our place goes on the market next week. Similar properties have sold really well in the post covid unlock. Hopefully we can achieve a similar sale result before the lockdowns occur again. Our offer on a couple of thousand acres in QLD has been accepted. Hopefully in about 30 days I'll be heading north. Properties around our way are holding value really well and are selling faster than they ever have. We are also getting those agent's leaflets in the box again "Want to sell?" "We have buyers waiting!" etc etc.

Approx $1400 pa for my 1254ac, and that's without any sort of council service.

I'll also save more than that in tolls I dont pay anymore. even if there were no savings I wouldn't forego the opportunity to live in a remote rural area just for the sake of rates.

Another vid of when to bug out by an economist that I watch.... well researched vid and well presented. The vid mentions bank runs - something to watch out for.
