I collect old medical books from 1700-1925. Serves two purposes - they are really interesting from a historical perspective, but also when viewed from a modern perspective you know what works and what doesn't but these books often explain things, especially pharmacology / drug production in really simple / austere terms. I also collect Australian / NZ / Maritime medical history books for the same period - just discovered some are worth hundreds of $$ and I picked them up for very little over the last 20 yrs.
