Yeah this situation is bad, remember back in the 1930's this guy was invading small countries and everyone ignored it..... Both the West and the Russians are playing games with the Ukraine. "While Russia has legitimate interests in the mostly Russian-speaking Crimea region, “You just don’t invade another country on phony pretexts in order to assert your interests,” John Kerry said." Sorry Kerry but that is what the USA did when they went into Iraq, Remember weapons of mass destruction that were not there! I feel really bad for the Ukrainians! I don't trust either side.

Did I miss something on this - weren't they initially invited in at the request of the elected president?
If this is correct - an invitation is not an invasion.

They bring up some interesting good points here being that the US is attempting to get missile defence in Ukraine, which in effect will mostly neutralise Russia, and of course Russia not wanting to loose power and dominance had to take action. It also points out that it has always been a part of Russia for the last 400 years. I'm not 100% behind all of the ideas, though it's certainly interesting.

Don't think anyone mentioned that with the Ukraine under western influence - the distance to Moscow is greatly reduced. Kiev to Moscow is a little over 700kms(approx.) so from the border it would only be 3 or 4 hundred kms at a 'guestamate'. For those who study military history, you would be aware that in the past, Moscow's greatest defence was it's distance to it's furthermost borders - which included the old eastern block countries. This new close border makes it a much more 'viable and achievable target' of conquest to NATO forces. (There is a very devious game being played behind the scenes that the powers that be do not want us to know the real why's and wherefores - and it is not just from one side).
