OK... So I was doing things in the big garage a week or so ago, and who should come around looking at me other than Mr Long Tail Weasel...
They are about head and body the size of an average banana, but very capable of killing a grown chicken or rabbit..
Live trap and canned cat food was what it took to "take care of business"
After our first snow, I saw tracks around the garden planters that are next to the chicken house...
Again the live trap and bait "took care of business" in the chicken house vestibule..
While in town today, an area along a hill side, street where a school and ball fields are, and where the highways cross there is a coincidental green spaces 3 ways away from there... Lurking along the trees I noticed a cross fox there.. Must be a lot of cats in the residential area next to there.. The fox likely moved down the hill from where there are a lot of missing cat posters in that area...
People never seem to learn...
At least with the snow, I have to presume bears are denned up now... They den up on the changes in food supply.. Not weather, length of sunlight, or other presumed reasons..
