Hello, fellow preppers. I haven’t been on this site for at least a year and not seriously since about 2016 when shtf scenarios were really talk subjects. I was interested to hear thoughts since Covid. Covid moved me to the bush. I’d been doing 3 days in the farm for years, always living out of a suitcase. Covid gave me the shove I needed and I’m now on the farm full time, apart from 3 days back down there occasionally. The farmhouse is fully off the grid for power and water. Plenty of meat in the paddock, still on their feet!! Good to see the site is still busy. Will check in more often. Are there any groups meeting in the country or city atm? I’d be interested in catching up with others.

Sounds like you have got it sorted, well done. Where abouts are you? I moved to my property 4 months before covid kicked off and i’m loving it. I like the sound of off grid power but won’t go there myself, yet. I have solar and my bills are very low so buying a battery bank to supply the house is not economical. I do need a back up though. I’ve been working from home but will transition back to work more as i feel i’m losing motivation.

Well done.
Do you have any utility connections like sewage or is that also off grid with a septic tank or similar?
I was on a farm recently and when it rains several creeks can flood and you can get trapped there (difficult or risky to cross the flooded rivers).
I’m curious if the case too. I think most situations it’s just an inconvenience at worse. As you can just wait it out. And should have sufficient supplies and self reliance.

Welcome back I've been a bit absent of late too, end of year business always sees me go dark for a few months. Nothing fancy, it just gets super busy and then by the time I get around to prepping type stuff I do the bare minimum to keep it ticking over and then move along lol.

No progress at all Tom. I was primarily looking into generators to run for a couple of hours a day to keep a freezer going. At stand alone solar is also under consideration. Too many other expenses at the moment.
