This guy seems intent on dying in the snow.

Will check the vids out later.
A few years back I did a lot of research on abandoned mines in Australia NSW and WA, there are entire mining villages that have been abandoned with full infrastructure - run down though.
Great places for Bugout, need enough fuel stored and small truck, or vehicles with trailers to drag required supplies and equipment for a few years subsistence. WAs looking at doing a trip with family to visit some of them and evaluate potential as backup bugout location. Anyone with a good suggested location in Aus or wanting to join me on a trip to some of these locations...

There are also old villages/settlements along the old train lines. Might be some options there too. the line from Mt Isa to Townsville has a few but they are fairly close to the main road.

I assume the latter? There are heaps of old mines in the flinders ranges in SA; I'm talking hand dug tunnels from the pre 1940's; that would make excellent emergency shelters. Most aren't even mapped and many you'd have to walk right up close to (within 20m) before they become visible. Water supply would be tricky in the long term though. I'm lucky. I've got access to a concrete reinforced tunnel in a secluded area that its possible to park a few cars in and still have plenty of room to live!

Saw a guy who bought an old railway tunnel and turned it into a distillery. Retirement goals...

Have seen what this guy did several times... A couple times with grand visions of turning it into a bed and breakfast, envy of all his urban pretentious friends, where they can all meet and retreat over the fad wine of the day, and the owners earn back there expenses and enough to retire early, write books, travel, live in leisure...
Usually ends up abandon again for the taxes on it.. And flipping burgers to live when no one wants to buy there novel...
