I watch a youtuber (EmmymadeinJapan, if anyone's curious) who occasionally does a series on 'hard times' foods. A while back, she made biscuits with pine bark flour. I can't remember what her thoughts on it were, but it sounded like it had a lot of history behind it and could be useful if needed. Sadly, now that our doggo has gone over the rainbow bridge I can over time start to use some of the helpful weeds that spring up into the yard to try some of her recipes. She did one on dandelion root coffee and I've always wanted to try to make it myself but having a dog in the yard meant that it was impossible to be sure that the plants weren't tainted. After a while longer we should be good to go. I'm going to try a lot of these more uncommon edibles in the future

One of the contestants on the Alone series (the one filmed in Mongolia) had a go at living on pine bark.
It didn't end well. Lots of serious gut pain and then he was pulled out for medical treatment on his insides.
