Not sure how to post this, but i was wondering if their is a database or website that lists possible threats from industry like chemical plants and those that may pose a threat pshtf or even before? I realise this might be asking sensitive info, all i want to take away from this is how to avoid these areas established and emerging if possible?
Also to further the thread idea, awareness of possible threats could also include many other attributes, like say area C is full of snakes, area Y is contaminated by pollution of some sort etc etc.

Pretty much all along the first 10km of the Brisbane river with all the fuel/oil/chemical plants based there. Mines, military bases or training areas would also be potential hot spots for chemical contamination.

Having seen the umbrella of air pollution over Adelaide from a distance on a fine, sunny day ... living anywhere in any large city means inhaling LOTS of bad chemicals all the time.

There are published maps for flood and fire. I then look at Tsunami risk, high population areas, industrial areas, major roads, and waterways. Plenty of earthquake risk areas that are published, including liquefaction risk. The rest one has to do own research, spending hours going through Google Maps, and getting familiar with local area and evacuation routs.
Bug out water risk, know where groundwater bores are.

Thanks for the info;
I agree about big city living, especially along the brisbane river, so many industrial sites that are built alongside it.Another one to add to your list spatial might be rail roads. Im betting there is a lot on google maps that is hidden away from the likes of the average citizen though.

Local fire maps are a good start - they have all roads, and tracks. Handy to have!

This topic could lend itself to being categorised into sub topics for given regions/districts where folks from those districts could post what they consider to be threats in their district ... like supermax prisons, dams, military establishments, significant infrastructure etc

Ill start, anywhere coal seam gas is being explored and the land exploited. Tara south west qld. www.lockthegate.org.au/taraEdit: this might be considered divisive though, but i would hope that people keep an open mind. I think a short thread in a sub topic area outlining an issue along with some backed up sources such as the link i posted from lock the gate.

I think we can all agree that divisive or not, a threat is a threat. Whether you're pro or anti whatever subject. Simply because you might think that something isn't worth protesting over, or that it's stupid for people to do so, doesn't remove the risk for individuals in the region. I think that a good addition to the list is political offices for local councils in your area. Whether or not WE would be around them and involved in protesting or similar there are people who would treat them as rallying points for discontented folks and would be places that I would certainly make the effort to avoid coming within a certain distance from during social unrest.
