So do we, along with conventional in ground cultivation. We use a couple of miniature pigs to turn over garden beds ready for planting. With solar pumped water from the dams, its all off grid. We tried cutting the side out of a large truck tire and filling with soil and planting into that, but in summer its just too hot up here. Total lockdowns means more time for the farm.
Fight back, fill out your tax return with roman numerals !

I also use free range ducks for slug control which is a huge problem on my property. I grew up in the swamps of Louisiana and they cleared swamp/low land on my family farm with pigs. The area was infested with a poisonous snake called a cotton mouth moccasin. It always amazed me that the pigs actually ate the snakes as they went but were unaffected by the venom. Handy creatures pigs! Your off grid setup sounds interesting. Would love to see some pictures.

sorry to ask questions here as im not real good at gardening, i tried growing some chillies recently and they are growing but really slowly? Like for the last 2 months they have been only about an inch growth from seed. Maybe im not using the right soil? Ill take a piccy of them tmoz. Im gonna give them away anyhow as im moving but just interested to know as its the first time ive tried growing anything except weeds lol.
The soil was from bunnings, it is osmacote seed and cutting mix. Maybe i need to move them out of that soil into something else?

how much room have they got? If it's not like a litre of dirt for each seedling, might be worth sticking a couple in a small pot each to give them room for roots and see if they take off ... also how much sunlight are they getting?
