Melbourne & Sydney Protesting Ugh. News.com.au isn't my preferred news space, but this is being spread to every site now so I don't think it matters. Look, I'm 100% a fan of freedom of protest. I think in most cases it's stupid (like idiots protesting about climate change who literally force people to sit in their running cars in backed up traffic) but I think everyone should have the right and freedom to protest. But this is utter foolishness. 825 new cases reported in NSW today. It's going up and up and up, and our medical system simply can't cope with the numbers consistently going up like this. Anyway, mini rant aside how do you all see this expanding out? I never used to factor pandemic into my preps. In the past my preps have been based on financial crisis because I thought that was the most likely situation. It's not that I didn't think a pandemic could happen, just that it was less likely. Look who's eating humble pie . I still think that financial crisis is definitely something that will fall out of this for a lot of Australians, but now I'm starting to think that civil unrest is more and more becoming a factor now. Those of us who live in urban environments don't really have the option of just shutting the front gate and watching from the trap cameras with a few guns at hand. And frankly that's not my style anyway. Then again, I've never been in a home-turf civil unrest position to know what my style really is in that situation I guess.

Prepping for a financial collapse covers most of your bases anyway, it’s the most likely scenario. Just about all other scenarios lead to economic issues/austerity/collapse eventually anyway if they ate bad enough. Covid will probably do the same and for many people has already.
We’ll get our 70-80% vaccination rate then if the gates don’t open, we will see some shtf in downtown sudney and melbourne as people take back their freedom in numbers. I can’t see anyone taking any more backtracking from the state gov reps on meeting those targets.

I reckon so mamy cops were redirected to the Sydney CBD to close down this protest that people in western Sydney were making the most of a shortage of cops in their area to break the lockdown.

If this snot doesn't end soon, food riots will ensure as the truckies get pissed off, the harvest isn't brought in, and famine will happen. Not yet, but possible, especially in cities where people are trapped like rats. Then comes economic collapse and its all over red rover. There is no published ending to this.
Good dental hygiene is important for the whole family....but flossing your cat was probably a bad idea.

The earliest appointment he could get was in October for the pfizer vaccine.

I'm embarrassed to be Australian. In years past the Unions would have crucified employers for this type of behaviour.
Many years ago my Regional Manager visited our site of about 60 staff and started individual formal councelling sessions for everyone. By the third one we had all walked out. He came out to the carpark, ordered us back to work, we told him literally to get farkked. He backed down, tore up the councelling sessions he had done, and we went back to work. That's how you do it.

The crowd did a T shape along Spring st, down Burke to Elizabeth st, then turned right. At no point could I see the 'end' of the protest crowd in either direction, there were so many people. Also never saw nor really heard any of the speakers, due to the numbers. Would have to say there were around 100,000 people. There's been nothing like it since the Vietnam protests.

For a visual, here's a video some guy took of the protests on the weekend if you want to see for yourself...

I'm glad to see these protests were largely peaceful and went down without too much stress. A good example of how literally thousands of people wanting to get a message across can be done safely and with purpose.

Not sure if its hundreds of thousands of protesters... About 100,000 looks correct. Haven't seen that many people in the street since the Vietnam protests.
