It looks like AP is going to cause as much mayhem as the fizzer truckie strike was supposed to. Aus Post
So those businesses that adapted to online sales are now going to get hammered. I winder what the big retailers are doing? probably couriers working under water tight contracts to keep the rich like Boozos sucking wealth from his mum n dad competition.

Australia Post is run by incompetent fools. They introduced a system last year where each postie in urban and regional centres had to deliver 2 runs instead on 1, on alternate days. This means letters and small parcels for each address are only delivered every second day, and that each postie effectively has to do two days work for one days pay. Some posties quit, others refuse overtime and only deliver half their mail, others work 80hrs a week and burnout. Lots of posties take sick leave. The result is huge amounts of mail are delayed and lots of advertising product is pulped. Post is paid to deliver it, but Post destroys it instead.
The Senate oversight committee saw this alternate delivery system wasn't working and ordered Post to return to daily deliveries from 1 July this year. Post refused. The postal union did nothing.
I'm not surprised covid has spread inside Post facilities. My Area Manager's grand plan to prevent covid spreading between various sections of the facility is to draw an imaginary line between teams, marked by tape on the floor. Apparently the covid virus won't travel over a tape line. This is Post's grand plan to prevent the entire facility from being quarantined if 1 staff member tests positive. I kid you not.

Beno This was a full on hot topic at my place yesterday! Effectively we are barred from going to local bricks and mortar stores, so we go online out of necessity and even this is pretty much denied us due to Aus Post incompetence!

Bear in mind your average Postie gets basically the same base pay as the covid money. $1540 per fortnight. For working in torrential rain, extreme heat, extreme cold, snow, bitten by dogs, attacked by magpies, treated like shit by managers. Only penalty rates and overtime make it worthwhile. No wonder Post can't attract staff.

And to add. WA can’t even get a crop off. Fortress WA not working either. The nerve that they wanted overseas workers before allowing Aussies to do the work! WA crop harvestOn a side note. They pay in mining is going up quickly in WA. Many mines are now going live in and much less FIFO. No one wants to love where the mines are and mines are offering serious coin to entice workers. House o cards my friends!

WA mines are whole different thing, they are about to lose a heap of people ow after those so called "rape" allegations, as the mines (BP mainly so far) will start a register of "sex offenders" who are banned from working for the companies and will be publicly available. It won't be just anyone who has been sacked for inappropriate sexual behaviour, but anyone can make a complaint (genuine or frivolous) and they get added to the list without notice and recourse to fight the allegations.

I’d imagine that would be a lot of disappointed customers. i guess the moral to the story is buy backup batteries as well….or delve into the “prepper” stash to power up.

Wow. i can’t see how a private company can start a sex offenders register and make it public. surely that is litigation paradise for lawyers? But then again the miners run the country.

www.news.com.au/finance/business/nsw-business-slams-australia-posts-parcel-pause-after-60k-spend-on-express-fees/news-story/52fd622bc26370a8ab6caeca0cad64e6A NSW business has slammed Australia Post over a sudden announcement to pause their parcel post collection service after shelling out nearly $60,000 for express post and claiming some parcels took up to 13 days to arrive.
Australia Post announced on Thursday they were temporarily pausing parcel post collections from e-commerce retailers across NSW, the ACT and Victoria as the business struggles to cope with record volumes. The decision has left managers at the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory fuming, with their Father’s Day orders facing lengthy delays until next Tuesday. General manager Rhiannon Druce said the business had been working around the clock to ensure the orders would arrive on time for Father’s Day but the announcement had left them frustrated. She said the factory, near Wagga Wagga, had limited postal options due to the regional location and had already been dealt costly blows due to Covid-19 and lockdowns. “It’s one of those things where you see a light at the end of the tunnel and then you get this announcement … it makes you ask what’s the point of working as hard as we are?” Ms Druce told NCA NewsWire. While online demand had resulted in sales quadrupling, Ms Druce said she couldn’t understand the decision so close to Father’s Day. She said the business spent $58,000 on postage in August, upgrading their deliveries to express post after the first week due to complaints of slow delivery times. The business mailed 2546 parcels express post but some sent to Sydney and Melbourne took 13 days to arrive. In a statement, Australia Post apologised for the inconvenience to customers, saying they needed to return the record volumes to a “safe and manageable level”. “Australia Post currently has 500 people in necessary self-isolation, placing increased pressure on our network, while we also manage flight restrictions, temporary facility closures, and parcel volumes as high as our Christmas peak period,” an Australia Post spokesman said. The spokesman said Post Offices were not impacted and would remain open while the Express Post, Premium, Startrack Express and letters services remained unchanged. Ms Druce said it wasn’t a viable solution as it would still cost the factory more money in postage fees and it would impact them for days. “It’s not a position we want to be in, or Australia Post wants to be in,” Ms Druce said. “Staff have been working overtime to get parcels out for Father’s Day, then we’re told they’re ceasing pick-ups and deliveries on the weekend.”
