Not a new technology Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida has had an aeroponics display for at least 30 years. I believe they display the growth of cassava and malabar spinach with the technique. While fascinating unfortunately from a preppers standpoint I think this particular growth method is very dependent on electricity, petroleum biproducts such as plastics and very inefficient in water use. None of which may be plentiful in many grid down situations depending on location. It would also be very expensive and require a great deal of technical knowledge that most lay gardeners do not have.

Road the little boat tour through the exhibit with the retired doctor of agriculture giving the narration... Interesting, but how to scale down for a home user.. ??
But then I'm the definition of "black thumb"

But then I'm the definition of "black thumb" How funny! Let you in on a little secret I used to many years ago ride that boat and give that tour Land Pavilion, Sponsored by Kraft foods inc, Listen to the land boat ride. Future World, Epcot Center. " Ladies and gentlemen please remain seated at all times keeping arms and legs inside the boat for your own safety" Ah the things we do when we are young !!! Paid that tuition bill though. Scaling that technology down for the home user is a) expensive b) inefficient c) unnecessary. If you are going to space or living underground maybe....... Edit*** This is a Japanese film I believe and this technology may be useful to small island countries with limited agricultural land available reducing possibly their dependence on foreign food imports. Maybe...

i agree with dirtdiva that for home user this is inefficient. I guess as a piece of knowledge for SHTF, it is useful, especially if you can lock yourself on some roof top with lots solar panels, pumps etc. This might be an option. limited RSS, this is not too good. doesn't hurt to know, tho
