What's the main purpose? General campfire, cooking, indoor heating or water heating, waste disposal?

Waste disposal for one, possibly cooking as well, water heating might be a good idea to incorporate too. I just like the idea of these being smokeless, would be good to have pshtf for various needs.

It would be easy enough to add a coil of copper tube around or along one side of the inner space to heat water.. Waste disposal without leaving a trash foot print is always good.. Cooking.... Maybe... Thanks for sharing..

For cooking consider buying a factory made stainless steel one. They come in a variety of sizes. Might be better getting a one that fits the pots/pans you plan to cook on. Solo Stove is one of the better brands but there are cheaper ones on Amazon. I know Solo Stove make larger ones similar in size to the 44 gallon drum width albeit shorter in height. They are are more for campfires and I think aimed at the latte sipping city dwellers to use on their balcony. They are quite expensive. For waste disposal I'd definitely make one rather than buy. I suspect waste products such as plastic are still going to give off smoke and fumes.

Uff....Dah... Yes.. Those Solo Stoves are nice looking.. But they go from about $200 in a useable size to $1200 Canadian for the big one.. In marketing they always use pretty people because the soy latte, tofu people usually have the disposable income to spare.. This giving Billy Bob, and Erlene Hillbilly the impression they will look as good with that product.. Anyway... I have made a bunch of HOBO stoves from propane bottles.. I suspect there has been no more than $10 in any one build.. Most of that will be for paint.. The little smoke, fumes from general waste burning will disipate quickly in a short distance and leaves so little ash to dispose of rather than the whole packaging lot... It is worth it.. I think fire light after dark drawing attention is likely a more important thing to manage.. Most of my homemade HOBO stoves will be similar, but none the same... (12 liter soup pot)
