I've been looking for a while to try and locate a decent MAG to be a part of, however most of the groups I seem to find deteriorate into 5G-blocking-shungite-graphine-oxide-in-the-vax type BS rather quickly. Is there any recommendations for other Australian focused prepping groups or meetup groups or anything like that to get to know people?

I've been part of a prepping MAG since 2004, but there's only 1 member in WA. No conspiracy theorists, just down to earth, capable people. Oh, and Norseman, he's a nutter If you can't find an existing group, build your own. You'll have to sort through a lot of tossers to get a few diamonds, but the reward is worth the effort. And the tossers you discard provide for plenty of entertaining stories around the campfire.

I am east coast NSW.
Have tried a number of times to get what you call MAG or meets going, never been successful, had one meeting only one other family turned up, despite a number committing to be there. The other guys with his wife later the other went dark no longer on the forum..
There are a few members on the forum from your side of the world.... Anyone interested in a NSW meet..

I'm interested in a NSW meet, depending on location.

I think Frost is right. There's a lot of crazies out there that you'd have to filter through to build a group. It's obviously very doable and worthwhile to attempt. But I think right now is a difficult time to be looking for groups because I'd hazard that most are either closed to applications or are made up of new-starters. The current climate has definitely encouraged folks who've not been interested before to get a bit more involved in preparedness.
They're often feeling a bit of existential dread and are going to either cut corners or make things up instead of focusing on making a solid and workable basis that survives different impact. Things like members leaving on bad terms that knows all your prep plans etc. or someone suddenly losing their financial base and looking for assistance.
I'm not trying to discourage you from MAGs although it might sound like it! More just a caution to be a bit more picky than usual at the moment. Forums like this one are fantastic places to get ideas, learn, get tip-offs to great deals, and run sanity checks on your newest rabbit farming endeavour. We've seen a general increase of new 'faces' in here lately but just as many make a couple of posts and then disappear. Perhaps because it seems like we're a bit closed off. We're a bit like that weird family that bickers and narks at each other occasionally but still gets together because everyone at least understands each other's brand of crazy 😂.
But I've found this forum to be a very effective substitute for a lot of MAG related stuff. Not everything. But I've learned heaps here (especially about Vietnamese backpackers. Apparently they're the best kind of backpackers).

Yep but also depends on location. I’d also like to raise interest in a northern rivers group meet.

Even organising a local meet, let alone an active group seems too much to ask.
Wish you luck.

It is the defining line of going from talk to walk.

Perth WA Survivalists & Preppers on facebook has a good balance. The site tries to stay clear of radical opinions and crazy conspiracy perspectives .... the site is primarily focused towards survival skills and prepping
